A NOTE FROM BETHANY

My practice prioritizes creating a safe and supportive space for client self-reflection and exploration. First and foremost is building a trusted relationship that allows me to join with a client or family on their journey towards improving mental health, repairing relationships and reaching personal goals. It is through this journey that clients can create a greater connection with themselves and others. By developing a deeper understanding of experiences or patterns in their past, clients learn to facilitate future change that will lead to long-term personal, relational and emotional growth.

It is essential, not only to identify where we are now, but also to reflect on where we started. In the spirit of supporting my clients in that process, I also share my journey as a therapist.

I began as a volunteer counselor and advocate, long before becoming a professional in the mental health field. Through this experience, I developed my passion for working with individuals and families. Witnessing the strength and resiliency of those I had the privilege of working with, as they took courageous steps towards healing and growth, inspired me to commit to my journey of becoming the therapist I aspired to be.

In this pursuit, I soon learned the importance of placing strong consideration on the impact relationships and past experiences can have on current mental health, which can be further complicated by multiple external and systemic factors. This led me to many years working with individuals, children and families as a therapist, advocate and program supervisor. Through these roles, I was challenged to expand my capacity for providing extensive therapeutic resources and a specialized treatment approach for each of my clients through education, research and professional affiliations.

As I continue to discover and develop the aspired therapist within me (because our work is never done!), I stay focused on the privilege of bearing witness to the strength and resilience I believe exists in all who choose to take the steps toward personal growth.

All the very best,
